THE MUSEUM OF RECORDS AND CURIOSITIES PELHüIMOV
Characterization of the Musem of Records and Curiosities in Pelhřimov
The museum has been open for visitors since 1.6.1994 as the only one of its kind in Middle Europe. It was established and has been run by the "Dobrý den" agency. The unique pictures reflecting the atmosphere and content of the Festivals of Records and Curiosities and shots of other uncommon activities of the agency are displayed in the photographic exhibition. Some of the exhibited photographs depict experiences and impressions of foreign festivals of records in France, Belgium and Germany, where the Czech Republic was represented just by the "Dobrý den" agency. More than fifty very different three-dimensional maxi-exhibits and miniatures accompanied by the erudite explanation of a museum guide show a cross-section of curious fields of human interests and activities. The third floor of the ancient Jihlava town gate, where the museum is located, is reserved for unusual collections lent by collectors and authors from all over the Czech Republic. These exhibited collections are changed every two months. The museum is open to the public daily from 9.00am to 5.00pm in season (from June - September). Out of season (from October - May) those interested in making a tour of the museum may buy or book their tickets (individually or groups) personally, by telephone or writing to us at the office of the "Dobrý den" agency. We also offer night tours of the museum. Anybody interested in more detailed information on either Czech or world records is also welcome to ask at the address of the "Dobrý den" agency.
